Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 July 2026
TimeMatch.me is built as a 100% client-side application. All time zone detection, calculations, and clock conversions are performed directly inside your own web browser using standard JavaScript. There are no user accounts, no application databases, and no server-side processing: your location and the cities you compare are never transmitted to or stored by us.
Who is responsible for this site
The data controller for this website is Lauri Hanski, an individual operating this site from Finland. For any privacy question or request, contact hello@timematch.me.
Local processing
When you open TimeMatch.me, your browser's built-in international time database is used to compute times. Your detected time zone never leaves your device. A small preference (your cookie consent choice) may be saved in your browser's local storage so we do not ask you again.
Hosting and server logs
One thing does leave your device, and it is worth stating plainly: this site is hosted on Netlify, and like every web host, Netlify processes the technical details inherent in delivering a page — your IP address, the page requested, your browser's user-agent string and the time of the request. These are handled by Netlify as our hosting provider for delivery and security purposes, retained only briefly, and are not combined with anything else or used to build a profile of you. We have no analytics dashboard and cannot identify individual visitors. The lawful basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in serving and protecting the site (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).
Advertising & cookies (Google AdSense)
At present this site runs no advertising and no analytics, and sets no third-party cookies at all. We are describing the intended use here in advance so the position is clear before anything changes.
Should we introduce advertising served by Google AdSense, third-party vendors including Google would use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites. Such cookies would only ever be set after you accept them in the consent banner, and declining keeps the site fully functional. You can opt out of personalised advertising across the web at any time via Google Ads Settings, or review how partners use data at Google's partner sites policy. This policy will be updated, and the date above changed, before any of that goes live.
Your consent
The consent banner offers a genuine choice between accepting and declining optional cookies, and nothing optional is loaded unless you accept. Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage so we do not ask again. To change or withdraw it, clear this site's stored data in your browser settings and the banner will reappear on your next visit.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. In practice there is very little for us to act on here: we hold no accounts and no user records, so in most cases there is simply nothing on file to retrieve or delete. You are welcome to ask anyway, at the address above. If you believe your data has been handled improperly, you may lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority — in Finland this is the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman (Tietosuojavaltuutetun toimisto).
Children
This site is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, of any age.
